Don't Demand more than the Lord - Week 28

... I read two talks that I really loved.  One talked about how we don't need to demand more of ourselves than the Lord.  We just need to try to be our best and if we fail, continue onward trying to do what is right and trying to be better. The other was about friends.
It said that we normally associate "friend" with everyone that we know.  But then it said that someone that is a friend makes living the gospel of Jesus Christ easier.  How lucky am I to have so many wondeful friends and examples that love the Lord and encourage me to be my best.  Never forget that being a friend is much more important than having them.  If you will be a friend, you will have them;)
Love you all and that is the challenge for all of you!  Find good friends, or write a list of the type of friend that you want to have...and be that friend!  Love Elder George

Conference with the zone.

We had a mission conference with a member of the seventy named
Walter F. Gonzalez.
During the conference we learned a lot about the power of the
Book of Mormon, obedience vs. efficiency, and many other things.

Elder AGren is from Utah a boy from Gunnison and he is seriously so awesome!!

Service project!  Notice that Agren is doing the statue of Chaco look with the shovel.

Nuestro perrito or little dog and removing a big big tree!!

In La Rioja there is a really big festival the 13th to the 17th of February called La Chaya. It is basically a festival when people get together and throw things at each other especially flour, water, wine, eggs, whatever you can find.

We managed to avoid being chayaed the entire time but we got invited to go and chayar one p-day with my Family the fam Florez!  We only used dirt and water but it sure was a battle of every man for himself!  It was a blast and even though I was removing dirt from my ear for 3 days, it was definitely worth it!

Cabeza Huatiada - Week 27

People always ask what is the weirdest or nastiest thing that you ate on your mission.  Well in Argentina we eat basically the same in the states and nothing is weird.  Rice, potatoes, meat, more meat, some more meat, oh and don't forget MEAT!  Haha well I finally have a story of something that was crazy!  But it wasn't nasty okay.

We were invited to go to a family dinner for a "Cabeza Huatiada" or a cooked cow head!  Hahah, yep just the head.  What they do is dig a hole light a fire in the hole and like a roast beef in the oven leave it there for a few hours.  First they put it in a special paper to keep dirt off and to keep it from burning.  Well we were at the house of the Family Florez and a man pulled up in his car and asked something that I don't think you will ever hear in the states.  He asked, "Hey did you guys order the head?"....yes...."its in the back".  Elder Agren and I laughed about that for a little while like it was a murder crime or something.

Haha, well it was in a bag and then we took it out and removed the paper.  There it was...a cooked cow head.  Wow I was super excited!  I ate every part of the head that there was you name it.  The tongue was my favorite, but the eye cheeks and nose were pretty great too.  But hey the brain or ceso...no!  It was all gooey and yuck!  The cow head overall was a delicious treat!!!

Guess what we had for dinner!

The thing in the bag, yes and it was the weirdest thing ever but the tastiest too!
"Cabeza Huatiada" or cooked cow head!!

Yes a cooked cow head.  They dig a hole put it in and light a fire.
It is basically like roast and you leave it for a few hours.

The house of the Family Florez. They treat us so well!!!

Everyone has a fork and just digs in!

My favorite part was the tongue and the eye and the cheeks!

The brain....that was a little too much for me!  My companion couldn't do it.

He couldn't bring himself to eat it, but really it was delicious!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks kind of gross huh Mom:)  so so so so good!!
Seriously! This is the kid who would only eat a few things like burnt toast!
Will miracles never cease!

Always wear your Armor of God Week 26

There is a wonderful video all about putting on the Whole Armor of God. There is one part that I love when some of the soldiers are taking off their armor to go swimming and in this moment when they are at their most vulnerable the enemy attacks. I found it interesting that during the attack they tried to put on their armor again or at least fight back, but they couldn't defend because they were no longer prepared for battle. Like them, we can't afford not to be prepared for the temptations and problems that are coming our way. Satan is just waiting for us to slip up or fall so he can take us out. Don't allow yourself to weaken spiritually and always look for opportunities to strengthen yourself and others!
All my love Elder George

What a Great Week! Worthy to Stand - Weeks 24 -25

....my favorite part of the week was the baptism of the family florez.  It was such a beautiful experience.  I had the privilege of baptizing Gabi and Alejo and they were all so excited.  The Dad ran to the font because he couldn't wait.  I could see a light in their eyes and a desire to do what is right.  I have never seen that change in my life until now. I can truly say that I love this family!

The Florez Family and the Elders on Baptism day!

The boys I baptized are named Gabi, the bigger one and Alejo

Elder Lima is moving to be a Zone Leader. I'm sure going to miss him!
